God is there, trust Him.

Good parents

It will be a hard week for a lot of people as the country starts to open up more and we, as parents, have to make some very hard decisions for our families and children. It seems unclear what is the right choice. We all want what is best for our child and wouldn't want to cause them harm.
Whatever you decide, you will hope that it was the correct thing to do.

Our Father

Our God is a good father and, just like you, wants the best for His children. He is better than us at it because He Is God! He knows all about us and the situation.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, or worried, or stressed, you can try to spend time with Him and He can offer calm. He calls us to be still and know that He is God. That is more than not moving, it is choosing to take time and be with God.

ACTIVITY IDEAS

Colouring Sheet
Print out the above image and colour it in to reflect on who God is and be 'mindful'.

Breathe
Try to sit quietly and think about your breathing.
*As you breathe in think about how good God is. Choose a word like AMAZING, LOVING, POWERFUL and say it in your mind.
*As you breathe out let go of the things that worry you, like SCHOOL, SAFETY, FEAR.

Hopefully this will help you and your children to find some calm and trust that God is with you, whatever else is happening in the world.

Nature
Spend some time in nature and realise that God, the creator, made it all. It can be very renewing for us and is a good way to spend time with Him.

I hope that you are all finding a route through the present confusion and trouble and that you can find comfort in God.
God Bless you and your families x

Light Of The World

Light Of The World You are maybe familiar with Jesus being called Light of the World, particularly at this time of year as we approach Halloween and Christmas. He brings hope and love from God to the people of the world and shows them the way back to a relationship with the Father. But here it is Jesus teaching the disciples and people that they are light to the world as well. If you have something special and important you want to show people, not hide it away. We have a hope that God cares about the world and about each of us and we should be ready to share that hope. No Hiding It should be obvious in your every day life that you are a follower of Jesus. If you are a Christian and no-one knows then you aren't sharing the gospel and good news. That sharing doesn't always involve words but can be shown in your actions and attitudes. You should stand out from the crowd by the love and care you exhibit. Maybe you choose to walk away and not join in the gossip, or you stand alongs...

Hope to hang on to

What is hope? The dictionaries say that Hope is a feeling and expectation that a particular thing is going to happen. Sometimes hope is assured and sometimes unlikely.  Maybe, you hope your favourite team will win a match. That can be likely to happen or you could be rather optimistic!  An older definition includes the idea of trust as well. So what is the hope that we have as Christians? Firstly, that if God has promised it, it will happen. We see God's promises in the bible in stories like Noah, Abraham and Joseph. Their lives included promises for the future, some of which we see come true in their lives and the lives of their families.                                                     🚢                 ✰                🌈 But our biggest Hope is rooted in Jes...

Harvest and thankfulness

Harvest This coming Sunday we will be celebrating Harvest during our all-age service. I wanted to write you a poem or two to help us think about what harvest means to us today. It is a bit about food and all the fruit and vegetables we can pick and enjoy at this time of year. But, because most of us don't grow all of our food any more, it is also a chance to be thankful for all the good things we enjoy in our lives. Thankfulness What are you thankful for? It could be your family and the extra time you've had to spend with them this year. It could be that you are healthy and fit and are able to use that to help others. Maybe it is the place you live, or the community you are part of, or the beauty of our earth and universe. Even in the hard times we should try to be thankful for what God has given us. This isn't always easy but can mean that we become more aware of the goodness of God, instead of the problems of earth. Hebrews 13:15 15   Through Jesus, therefore, let u...
