Love is ...

Colouring Page

God's Love

God's love for us is all of the things listed in the chapter from 1 Corinthians that I have used for the colouring page this week.
This is an amazing list and teaches us how we should try to love too. Are you always patient and kind with those you love? Do you make sure you keep no record of wrongs?

This is a real challenge for us and we cannot do it alone.

Help along the way

God has offered us help to get through our lives. He showed this love through Jesus, His Son, and He sent the Holy Spirit to guide and fill us each day.

This is how we love properly. Not in our own power but in God's.

Symbols of love

Hearts

One very familiar symbol of love is the heart 💖 and there are loads of fun ways to create them.

We drew hearts and the word LOVE with white candles on white card.
Then someone else painted over the images. They appear because the wax doesn't absorb the paint.

Have you ever made a row of paper people? You can do this with hearts too. Concertina fold a strip of paper and then draw on a heart shape, making sure it overlaps the edges. Cut it out and when you open it up you should have a row of hearts to decorate.

Enjoy printing and colouring the page at the top of the blog, or create your own page, full of hearts and colour them in.

The Cross

The cross a symbol of God's love because it is where Jesus died and the reason that we can be close to God again.
Jesus took away our sins by dying on the cross and that means it doesn't get between us and God.

You could make a cross using two twigs and some string to join them in the cross shape. Or draw and colour, or cut out and decorate.

The cross was an ugly thing made beautiful because of what it means. You can take a simple piece of card and make a beautiful cross.

It could be fun to head out and see if you can see any cross shapes in the world around you. Maybe in church windows or just in shapes you see.

God bless you all and help you to love in the best way, remembering that He loved us first.

Light Of The World

Light Of The World You are maybe familiar with Jesus being called Light of the World, particularly at this time of year as we approach Halloween and Christmas. He brings hope and love from God to the people of the world and shows them the way back to a relationship with the Father. But here it is Jesus teaching the disciples and people that they are light to the world as well. If you have something special and important you want to show people, not hide it away. We have a hope that God cares about the world and about each of us and we should be ready to share that hope. No Hiding It should be obvious in your every day life that you are a follower of Jesus. If you are a Christian and no-one knows then you aren't sharing the gospel and good news. That sharing doesn't always involve words but can be shown in your actions and attitudes. You should stand out from the crowd by the love and care you exhibit. Maybe you choose to walk away and not join in the gossip, or you stand alongs...

Hope to hang on to

What is hope? The dictionaries say that Hope is a feeling and expectation that a particular thing is going to happen. Sometimes hope is assured and sometimes unlikely.  Maybe, you hope your favourite team will win a match. That can be likely to happen or you could be rather optimistic!  An older definition includes the idea of trust as well. So what is the hope that we have as Christians? Firstly, that if God has promised it, it will happen. We see God's promises in the bible in stories like Noah, Abraham and Joseph. Their lives included promises for the future, some of which we see come true in their lives and the lives of their families.                                                     🚢                 ✰                🌈 But our biggest Hope is rooted in Jes...

Praise today

What is Praise? The Oxford dictionary tell us that praise is expressing approval for someone or something or showing respect and gratitude, particularly towards God. Other words that can mean the same (synonyms) are worship, glory, exalt, honour. We tell children 'well done' when we are pleased with them.  We praise God because of who He is and what He has done.  How do we praise? We use songs and hymns in church to help us praise. Whilst we aren't at church there are loads of resources online, particularly YouTube. 🎜🎜🎝🎜🎜 These songs are good to remind us of all the amazing things God has done and who He is. King of Kings, Faithful One, Almighty, Saviour, and so many other names. Many people find this the easiest way to express these ideas.  But we don't have to sing to praise! Maybe you are artistic and creative. The Garden of Eden Rainbow in the garden The first picture was made at church in our Sunday school, Sunday Jam, and is a picture of the Garden of Ed...
