Through water and fire, He is with us.

Isaiah 43:2
"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze."

In Times of Trouble

I don't know how you have been feeling through this whole pandemic but I have definitely felt in times of trouble.
I feel safe at home, where I can control what is going on, but I often feel stressed and worried when I have to go out. Shopping has become tense instead of routine or even enjoyable. Meeting friends takes planning and preparation rather than an impulsive trip to a coffee shop.

God's Promise

In difficult times the bible reminds us that God is there when we need him. He will not let our situations overcome us.
Imagine a stormy sea as a picture of life. The waves will not pull you from the boat, Jesus is there to calm the storm or to give you a way to cope with it.
It has been said that though everyone is in the same storm, we all have a different boat. Each person is experiencing the storm in their own way and will be troubled by different aspects. But God is there no matter what.

SO whether you see more storms ahead or fire that tries to burn you, He is there when you call, ready to offer reassurance and guidance.

 This image from Pinterest shows beautiful fire and water flags to wave. Could you be inspired to make your own flags or paintings to remember that God is always with you?

🌊 How about some water play, trying to make waves and a storm? Maybe best to do outside, you don't want to cover the whole bathroom in water!

💦 Do you know the song Row, row, row the boat? Did you know there are lots of verses? We sing a few at toddler group - crocodile, lion, polar bear, splish splash - perhaps you can find more verses or even try to make up your own. Could you make up a verse to remind us of Jesus calming the storm? 🎵

Final Note

I pray that you will find calm waters and ways to manage the hard times. I pray you will feel God close to you and know His presence when you need it most.

God Bless you all

Light Of The World

Light Of The World You are maybe familiar with Jesus being called Light of the World, particularly at this time of year as we approach Halloween and Christmas. He brings hope and love from God to the people of the world and shows them the way back to a relationship with the Father. But here it is Jesus teaching the disciples and people that they are light to the world as well. If you have something special and important you want to show people, not hide it away. We have a hope that God cares about the world and about each of us and we should be ready to share that hope. No Hiding It should be obvious in your every day life that you are a follower of Jesus. If you are a Christian and no-one knows then you aren't sharing the gospel and good news. That sharing doesn't always involve words but can be shown in your actions and attitudes. You should stand out from the crowd by the love and care you exhibit. Maybe you choose to walk away and not join in the gossip, or you stand alongs...

Hope to hang on to

What is hope? The dictionaries say that Hope is a feeling and expectation that a particular thing is going to happen. Sometimes hope is assured and sometimes unlikely.  Maybe, you hope your favourite team will win a match. That can be likely to happen or you could be rather optimistic!  An older definition includes the idea of trust as well. So what is the hope that we have as Christians? Firstly, that if God has promised it, it will happen. We see God's promises in the bible in stories like Noah, Abraham and Joseph. Their lives included promises for the future, some of which we see come true in their lives and the lives of their families.                                                     🚢                 ✰                🌈 But our biggest Hope is rooted in Jes...

Harvest and thankfulness

    Harvest This coming Sunday we will be celebrating Harvest during our all-age service. I wanted to write you a poem or two to help us think about what harvest means to us today. It is a bit about food and all the fruit and vegetables we can pick and enjoy at this time of year. But, because most of us don't grow all of our food any more, it is also a chance to be thankful for all the good things we enjoy in our lives. Thankfulness What are you thankful for? It could be your family and the extra time you've had to spend with them this year. It could be that you are healthy and fit and are able to use that to help others. Maybe it is the place you live, or the community you are part of, or the beauty of our earth and universe. Even in the hard times we should try to be thankful for what God has given us. This isn't always easy but can mean that we become more aware of the goodness of God, instead of the problems of earth. Hebrews 13:15 15   Through Jesus, therefore, let u...
